Anytime
you decide to renovate your home or even just rejuvenate a room or two, a small
to-do list turns into a never ending project. For many it is a welcomed task
that is taken on with zest and gusto but for some it can be very over whelming
and almost defeating before they even begin. Plus, it doesn’t seem to matter
whether it’s a complete overhaul or just changing a few things up, there are
many little details that are often forgotten that can help contribute to giving
the room or house a completely new look. It makes knowing what will make a
difference and what won’t almost mandatory to any home project.
While
many think of the obvious things; walls, textiles, furniture and floor
coverings; it’s what no one seems to remember that will provide the finishing
touches that never get noticed until you think you are done. So instead of a
quick project it becomes one that is never ending and not a very fun situation
for anyone to be in. To avoid the headache try to make it as easy as possible
on yourself and think of the little things that will either finish off or bring
together your vision. It’s the little after thoughts that matter, so for a few
ideas…
Crown Molding
If your room doesn’t already have crown molding, it is definitely time to get some. It doesn’t only add a feel of class and luxury to any room, but it also provides dimension to the space. Not to mention that it is very easy to install and unbelievably inexpensive.
Curtain Rods
This is probably one of the most forgotten details, but shouldn’t be! Unless you have a valance curtain rod, every window covering should include curtain rods that complement the décor. Although some can be quite pricey depending on style, there are many affordable options and most cities have specialty stores that sell cheap curtain rods. Plus, they are effortless to install.
Lighting Fixtur
Although this is not usually forgotten about, many don’t
realize how much of a change it can make to a room or think it’s out of their
price range. However, that is not the case at all. For every high end fixture
that comes with a hefty price tag there will be something similar that is
easier on the pocket book. So whether it be a hanging chandelier style light or
a floor lamp that illuminates specific areas, for most rooms the lighting
fixture is the main focal point. Choosing something that works well with the
style of the room and provides the right level of illumination to preferred
areas will help to make your room pop!
