How to Hang Pleated Draperies Using Traverse Curtain Rods?

Traverse Rods
While redecorating the living rooms, people usually prefer installing curtain rods that can impeccably match with the overall decor of the house. In order to ease the process of selection, nowadays curtain rods are available in different styles are available that are not very expensive and can give a superior look to your house. However, according to your requirements, you can either think of purchasing simple decorative rods or traverse drapery rods that are specialized hardware with a pulley system, which makes it easier for the people to open and close the drapes by just pulling down the wand. However, the only difference you will find is that some of them operate through a side draw whereas others make use of a center draw.

Talking about the layout of the drapes, when you use traverse rods you will find that these rods would be such that an s-shaped pin attaches to the pleats of the drapes with a hook end that can be seen through the small hole in the rod hanger. Given that the hangers are made of plastic they can break or wear out easily with the passage of time or when they are exposed to sun. As mentioned earlier, these angers are not very expensive and can be easily purchased and installed in few minutes duration. Once they grow old, you can replace them with new ones in order to ensure proper functioning of the rods and the curtains. Therefore, for better understanding, this article discusses methods that can be adopted to replace the old and worn out hangers with new ones.

Double Traverse Rods• Whether you are installing single or double traverse rods, initially it is required that you detach the panel of the drapes from the corner of the bracket which can expose the rod on the side that has a broken hanger. It is then required to lift the hooks while continuing to remove the drapes from the corner of the bracket.

• Once the process of curtain removal is done, you now have to detach the hooks from the hanger and then set the drape in one side to expose the hardware, ring hangers and the rod. Further, in order to avoid any loss of the pins, which might get stuck in the seams of the pleats simply fold the drapes and keep them aside. However, if you think that the curtains need some cleaning, carefully remove the hooks from the pleats.

• Now unlock the rod by pressing down the tab on the pulley located on either side of the rod. This step allows you to easily slide sling hangers off the drapery rod. Now through the hole, lift it out carefully.

•    Now through the open end remove the broken plastic hangers and replace them with new rods. However, just make sure that the hangers are placed in forward facing direction.
Same procedure can also be followed for extra long traverse rods. Just be careful while reattaching the drapes as s-shaped hooks have pointed and sharp ends.
